oil pressure sensor.. what if i remove it in favor of a gauge...
when i got my swap, the oil pressure sensor was snipped. its snipped right at the base too. sorta sucks, but oh well.
if i remove it, and put in a gauge... my wirining harness won't plug into the sensor anymore.. since its gone.
now, in the long run with this cause me any problems? will i get any cel's or idiot lights that pop up?

I replaced my sender for a turbo feed line and a guage. All it does it take off your oil light. But that hole needs to be plugged with something (incase if you dont want gauge) because it will spill oil out.
i plan on putting a gauge in there
you said "All it does it take off your oil light." does that mean it goes off, or it just wont ever turn on?

when your oilpressure drops the oil light comes on. thats what that sensor is for. if you dont have it. your OIL pressure light WILL stay on. and youll most likely have a CEL. just make something new work. its not hard. all it is is a female bullet style connector.
yeah, i understand what the sensor is and all that... but i don't exactly know how to 'just make something work'
is the sensor still in the block? if so, take the pig tail that exhists and crimp a female bullet connector onto it and press it onto the oil pressure switch

yes its still in the block.
i can take it out, but i'd prefer a gauge.

bleh, you go and buy a T fitting for the block. Search the forced induction forum for nice pics of what i'm saying. Make sure you get an adaptor from flemenco T to go from bspt to npt thread otherwise you might get a leak. With the T you can have the dummy light and the gauge, yay

This didn't happen for me after I swapped out my sender for a gauge.

did anything happen at all? what did you do with the wire from the harness? leave it dangling?
i really dont feel like rewiring the plug.

The light will NOT come on. The only thing that sender does is light up the idiot light on the dash. Don't worry about removing it in favor of a gauge.

thats good to know, but it doesnt make sense why it wont come on.

Wow talk about misinformation. Sorry dude if you cut the wire the lights wont come on. I know this from personal experience. The light will never show, not even on start up, it will NEVER show again (with it disconnected.)

Yes it wont come on until you feel like plugging it back in (no real reason to if you have a gauge).

thank you.
i love posters here like you.

Thank You i was just gonna post this. To "JBell" just watch your gauge to make sure youre not losing oil pressure because it wont be as flashy as your stock dummy light

Yup, just left it hanging. It has a plastic protector around it anyways so it doesn't get jacked up inside the engine bay. It's good to leave it on there in case you end up selling the motor/harness later on (like I am).
Just don't forget to use teflon tape!

That sender only makes the light come on if there is less then 3 PSI of oil pressure, by the time it comes on your screwed anyway...

Do not run a t fitting off the block. Run 1 fitting off the block to the firewall.

I ran a t fitting for my oil feed for the turbo and the sender....it did nothing but leak so I said skip the sensor and run with out it. Your light wont come on if its not plugged in and as stated before if it does its to late anyways.
