Default noob question. cel

Ok so I just want to run a test on my CEL but I have no idea where the plug in for the computer is at!! I looked forever while I was down at checker. I just thought it would be under the steering column...

When the guy who came out to look at it cuz i told him i am a noob and cant find it looked... he pointed to something and said 'oh thats it right there, its a honda specific one, we dont ahve a plug for that... but um that doesnt' sound right.

Anyone tell me?

It is a blue connector located behind the center console.
4th gens it is behind the center radio console on the drivers side
5th gen is on the passenger side
take a paperclip and cut it in half then take the "U" clip that you just made and trip the blue connector now turn the car on (acc 11 pos).. If the check engine light comes on and does not blink then it is ok if it comes on and blinks then it has a code. A long blink is 10s and a short blink is 1s... hope it helps

What does long blink is 10s and short blink is 1s mean? So if I get 2 long blinks and 3 short blinks does that mean the CEL code is 23?

Where can I find a list of what these codes mean?

Thanks

what if the engine has two codes? I went to a shop and it claimed to have two codes. I didn't want them to do that, I took it in for a speedometer test and they jsut said "oh yay this car has a cel, lets pull some codes, then tried to charge me for it" even though i said i didn't want them to.

ANYWAYS, they said there were two, how would i find what the two are by this method? would it do some long ones, short ones, and immedietly follow it with another one thats long, short?

yep and how am I going to see them?

Autozone read it as one, and the shop showed two, is it possible that the reader my shop wasn't as nice or thourough?

depends on which scanner you have at the shop, the ones from autozone aren't that accurate, but they will get you in the right ballpark
