Default Where to run an oil line for an accusump through the firewall?

So I am trying to install/plum up my accusump setup and I am seeing no obvious place to run my oil line from the accusump into the engine bay. Are there any factory holes I can use or do I drill new holes in the firewall?

Any install guidance? Thanks!

On a second, but related questions any opinions on where it should be installed? I am using a manual valve so I have some flexibility.

next to the heater hose hole there should be a small hole already

Just get a bulkhead fitting and a uni bit and place it in the best spot. BTW, I don't use the relief valve on the end cap. It only leaks.

It maintains oil pressure.

If you've removed the ventilation tunnel and AC condensor, you can put it through the oblong hole in the firewall right behind the glovebox and end up right behind the battery. If the battery was already relocated, that would make it even more convenient.

An Accusump is classified as an oil accumulator. It gets plumbed directly into the engine's oiling system and stores a specified volume of oil (ie: 1qt, 2qt, 3qt, 4qt) under pressure. Any time there is a pressure differential b/w the engine and the Accusump, the oil will move b/w the two to the side with the lower pressure (obviously).

Wow. I never really looked at the nuts and bolts of one of these. Do they all run an oil line through the passenger compartment?

You could have it in the engine compartment if 1) you had the room and 2) if you used an electric valve, but it would also absorb heat from the compartment.

I was thinking the same thing .. 200-270 degree oil in the passenger compartment seems a little dangerous if you ask me .. especially under pressure.

It's probably pretty safe, but what happens if you get hit hard and the firewall get's compressed and cuts the hose?

Personally Id keep that in the engine bay.

Put it in the engine bay? Where would you put a 2 qt or 3 qt accusump in the engine bay?

On a safety note its required to use aeroquip lines with top notch fittings. The likly hood of anything happening is slim to none and it my opion if this were to get cut or dislogged some way I have bigger problems to worry about than oil.

This apparently is not that common on this board, but in the NE probably 50% of the cars are running accusumps.

Agreed. I have just never considered the practical aspects of one of these installations, and thought it worth asking.

Yes, you would, such as a fire caused from the spewing oil, which would probably spray all over you..

Jeremy, use a bulkhead fitting like some said in here. Then run a line to it from the engine compartment and one from the passenger compartment. This way there is less chance of damaging the line running between the accusump and the engine. It is also neater and easier to repair if any problems.

I put the 2-quart with an external oil filter in my engine bay. It was quite the acrobatics to fit it in my DA Teg, but since the battery was already in the trunk, that freed up some room.

I love mine, oil pressurized starting. Wet bearings in the morning just makes me happy.

The RTR TSX and RSX both have theirs in the passenger compartment, exactly like in the pic above, seems they have come up with a way to make it safe.
