Before I begin, I would like to clarify that I am in no way affiliated with EFI101, and this post is written on my own experiences and opinions taking efi101.

I had always been confused when when it came to ECU's when i first began to modify my car. Learning to turbocharge, and modify just about any other part of my car was easy, but when it came to ECU's I simply lacked, and could not find any information anywhere that was clear concise and easy to understand.

I read a few posts and decided to read more on efi101. Visiting their website and speaking to Ben Strader, I decided this was the class for me. So I attended the efi101 class.

Heres my opinions and experience.

The course outline was very well written in a manuel given to us as we seated. The class was well organised with what I feel was the right amount of visual aids. The material was covered in a good pace, for people who both had a good understanding a for people like myself who had no understanding at all. The material was covered in a logical order, and it was thorough enough to walk someone like me who had no idea at all, through a thinking process that really does work in solving efi problems.

The breaks given to us were well timed and good length. Keeping concentration is not one of my forte, but it was quiet easy to do with Ben as the lecturer.

How did I feel? Initially I felt abit scared and unsure, but as the day began and the class worked into the meat of EFI tuning and relevant materials, I could relax more and easily follow Ben, via the manual given to us, and the visual aids. Ben was happy to take a few questions as we progressed and these questions were well answered by Ben. This really helped me alot, as the questions asked were the same ones confusing me.

By the end of the day, I had a strong confidence in myself, and a new found ability to problem solve for EFI problems. Speaking to Ben a few times during the breaks and having a chat with other students, I gathered that everyone else whom i spoke to gained the same from EFI101 as I did.

I subsequently took the advanced class, and have not looked back since then. I have sinced then mapped 3 of my own cars and have had no problems with them that I have not been able to deal with. They are daily drivers and are working well, both fuel efficient and making good power, retaining reliability and running very well.

The reason for me making this post is two-fold. I would not be able to map a car without having taken this class, even after reading information out there, I had been unable to have enough confidence to fully map a car. So the first reason for me making this post is to really encourage anyone who has sat on their butts waiting and confusing themselves about whether or not to take this class. I believe its well worth it, for the cost, the benefits and what you gain from this class is enourmas. I could not think of a better way to spend money than to really learn how to really map and get your car running well.

The second reason is a personal thank you to Ben. He was a great teacher and he really is a top bloke. He is tremendously supportive and really takes the time to work with you at your pace to learn. I think he genuinely likes to see his students really achieve and learn from his classes.

As a summary. Be you an expert, a self proclaimed expert, an average tuner, a novice, your average joe, or a complete noob, I think you can really gain something from the class. If I have the opportunity, I would take it again without hesitation.

Sorry for the long post, but I really wanted to give me opinion on what I think is a great class. Ben and efi101.

Good post, I attended EFI 101 and I feel the same way you do. I hope to attend 101 again and the advanced course as well.

At first I said I can't afford it. Then I look at all the money I have in tools and invested in the car itself then decided that I can not afford not to go.

I have heard nothing but positive feed back from students that have attended.

Ben is a very patient, gifted teacher. He and I went to Kenny Tran's shop in Texas to do the very first EFI seminar. I had no idea what to expect out of Ben as I knew he was not a professionally trained instructor. Turns out he is just a natural at teaching. I think I have been to 6 of the seminars now and it never gets boring.

I am very pleased to hear about the good experiences of past students like yourself.

2004 has been an absolutely outstanding year for EFI UNIVERSITY! We held something like 17-18 seminars with over 650 students attending our various programs. The sucess of this school can only be attributed to all of the people like you guys right here on H-T who have taken a chance, and gone to a class and then shared your experiences with others to help spread the word!

2005 looks to be even more promising for us, as we are already have many dates on the schedule that are filling up for the EFI 101 and Advanced classes.

We hope to bring you more variations of our classes as well for '05 like the long awaited "Wiring Workshop" and the upcomming "Data Acquisition and Track-Side Tuning" classes.

We have had som much demand for our existing classes that we are flat out trying to keep up right now, and finding the time to develop new courses has been a challenge, but rest assured, we are up to it!

Thanks again to all who attended in 2004 and we look forward to seeing even more of you in 2005!

coool i'll see you there.. I'm flying up from san jose to WA to take that class since there aren't any classes scheduled for Nor cal and I have a cousin I could visit while up there.
