Default weak *** rear defroster

now during the fall and summer my defroster worked awesome. cleared up my rear window in mins. now its getting really cold and there is a lil ice on the rear window and my defroster cant seem to clear it out at all. it clears about 1/4 inch above and below each line. what could this be? not getting enough power? thx

i don't know if this is your problem, but i also have a "weak *** rear defroster" so I went and bought a Rear Window Defogger Repair Kit. They sell 'em at most auto parts stores. It was less than $10. http://shop.store.yahoo.com/au....html
It's like the one in the link. You use it to "paint" any broken grids.

I think it would work for you, uglyasscrx. Maybe?

1. locate the break in the heat strip. Clean are with steel wool then alcohol.

2. Put cellophane tape above and below the break.

3. use a brush to apply a coat of silver conductive paint. Dry 40 min.

4. Make sure you have 6V in the middle.

5. Apply 2nd coat and wait 4 hours remove tape.

Basically the same as the above kit.

Maybe the heat stips can't defrost the ice because they don't put out enough BTU's (unit to measure heat=British Thermal Unit). It's a defogger not a deicer. Just a thought

How the hell can ice form on the inside?!
I think you just have on the outside if so. just pour some warm water over it. it works way better anyway. Don't be lazy and depend on the defogger.

as if you can carry a hot bucket of water with you were ever you go

ice gets on in the inside because you have moisture in your car and then it gets on the glass and freezes. i think if you turn off your heat and roll the windows down for a couple of seconds before you park that the cold air clears out the moisture and you shouldn't have the problem as bad.
