to all the DIY obd1 swappers, read this please
ok, so I just spliced obd1 civic plugs onto my 91 DX hatch to run a p28 ecu. I used this http://www.boosted.org/ecu/COMPLETE.txt how-to because that is what everyone suggested I use. Now the question I have is this, I followed all the instructions on that page but there are like 10 or so wires that arent mentioned on it. I have several wires still connected to my old plugs and several wires coming off my new plugs that arent connected to anything. Do I just cut the rest of the wires that are still going to my old obd0 plugs and leave it at that?? That doesn't seem to make sense, they must go to something that needs to work..... Thanks.
Which wires do you have on the NEW plugs that are not conneted?
You can figure out what they are on for this chart -
http://www.ff-squad.com/tech/w...t.zip
If you have a Helms then you can figure out what the wires go to on you OD-0 plugs.
It seems strange to me that you have SEVERAL stray wires.
If you still can't figure it out, list the pinout and color of the wires you don't have connected and I can look them up for you in a Helm manual.

ok all of the pinout locations im about to list are the odds on top, evens on bottom style. ex.
1 3 5 7 9 11
2 4 6 8 10 12
the remaining wires on the obd1 plug were pins:
a8-fuel pump control
a22-ignition output signal
several more but i found out they were for automatics not 5 spd like mine
the remaining wires on the obd0 plugs were:
a6-purge cut off solenoid
a11-eacv
a12-fuel pump control
b2-fast idle control
b11-clutch switch (hf only)
b13-starting input (hot when starting, goes to main relay)
c9-atmospheric pressure sensor
So the two that I see matching up between obd0 and obd1 are the fuel pump control wires, so i connected those together.
I tried to start the car like this but when you turn the key to the "before cranking" position, the fuel pump is supposed to prime and shut off. It just keeps on running and doesnt click off, it just continues humming. Then, when I cranked it over, it immediatly made a horrible grinding noise like when you crank the car over and its already running

A22 is the same as A21. If you take a meter across the leads on the P28 or whatever ECU you are going to use and you will see that A21 and A22 are shorted together inside the ECU.
Same goes with A7 and A8... you only need to have one of them hooked up.

So you mean that these wires aren't going any place under the dash or the wires going from your cut plugs don't go anywhere on the OBD-1 plugs?
I'm just asking because I'm a little confused. The conversion harness directions have a place for every one of those wires you listed.

ok I wont hook those other two on the obd1 plugs up then. and about the obd0 plugs, I mean the wires are still running to the obd0 plugs like stock. I havent cut them yet because I dont know where they go. Those instructions I was using doesn't tell me anything about them. So where do they go on the obd1 plugs?? Thanks.

a6-purge cut off solenoid -> OBD-1 A20
a11-eacv -> OBD-1 A9
a12-fuel pump control -> OBD-1 A7
b2-fast idle control -> OBD-1
b11-clutch switch (hf only) -> not hooked up... HF only.
b13-starting input (hot when starting, goes to main relay) -> OBD-1 B9
c9-atmospheric pressure sensor -> not hooked up. APS is built into OBD-1 ECU's.
Strange that you didn't list a bunch of open wires on the OBD-1 plugs?!??!
I guess you might have to locate and add pins for the remaining wires?!!?
DOUBLE/TRIPLE check all your wiring on the jumper!
It's VERY easy to get pins mixed up especially since you have to remember which way you are looking into the plugs.
I went through mine 3 times before I was confident that nothing was wired wrong.
I did find a few wires in the wrong place so checking it was a good idea!
