Help - Throwing CEL #7 & #9
Hi All,
I left work yesterday drove 10mins to supermarket then left, about a min later CEL comes on, I stop let kill the engine, restart, comes on again 10secs later, so I remove the ECU fuse have a look at everything and restart and she is ok all the way home (15mins).
Today start her up she is fine we drive for 20mins, stop the car, when i return 5mins later she throws CEL again. So i read the codes in the car park and I get a :-
#7 TP Sensor (Throttle Position) defective circuit or unplugged/defective sensor.
#9 CYP Sensor (Cylinder) defective circuit or unplugged/defective sensor.
I reset the ECU again and she is again fine for the rest of the day(1hr)
I just wondered what your thoughts are, I dont beat on my car, the oil gets checked religiously and she is serviced as required. I am also mechanically sympathetic.
The last time I thru a CEL it was #8 TDC and that was 2.5 years ago and was my fault as I fitted APEXI Rev/Speed Meter and one of the connections was not to great.
I am unsure where the TP Sensor is, I presume its top of the intake which has a plug going to it? The CYP sensor is in the dizzy I think after using the search
If you all can shed any light I would be grateful, I am not overtly concerned and she is running fine but I want to find out whats making her suddenly throw these CEL's and how they could be connected.
My GF says just drive it till it goes off

I looked for 3 hours last night couldnt find anything, its definitely located in the dizzy for sure. Other than that nothing.
I have read more on CEL 7 but I currently looking for a guide on how to test the TP Sensor, I have a multimeter but all the threads I have read are sketchy to say the least. So any guidance appreciated!
Whats bugging me is the fact that its throwing two errors which kinda doesnt help me narrow anything down and also its throwing them only occasionally!

Is this for CEL 7? 9?
I've gotten word from this board that CEL 9 is a sensor within the distributor which may mean I would have to replace the whole distributor housing ....

You most likely need a new distributor. Those with more knowledge than I could probably tell you which part of the distributor you need cuz I didn't need the whole thing. I've heard Honda engines eat distributors.
