Default Anyone have anything good to say about SSAUTOCHROME?

Just wondering everyones experences. I had a header of his from several years ago (did not have support brackets like they do now) and my header cracked, but I also did not have a flex pipe and my motor mounts are weak so im not sure if it was the movement of the motor that cracked my header - he now offers a 1 year warenty and they look better, has anyone had any good experences with his headers and/or his turbos.

Kyle

I have a wasteegate from them that would not open at 8.7 psi liek they said, turned out they had two blue springs one was 14 psi one was 8 psi, once i told them they sent me the wrong one they ended up sending me everyspring they had for free and now the wastegate works really well and i am 100% satisfied. They just rush too much i think.

I have the SSauto mani. and it sucks. I have it braced and the runners aren't cracked but, the WG flange on it started cracking so, I had to drill it and have it rewelded. I want another manifold but, this will have to do for now. If you are in the market for a manifold my suggestion is to just save for a cast one

I've asked this a month ago and got **** from everyone.. Do a search on it but I think it's alot of people that heard from a hand full of people that they suck and that's how they got a bad name.. I don't know for sure though but my friend bought a t3/t4 turbo kit from them in spring but still is finishing up the car so I don't know how it works yet. It came quick and from what I seen it looks good. The manifold is braced. From what I seen in my search people who brace the manifold and bore out the wastegate slot have had no problems. But other people have had boost creep and cracked manifolds. I emailed some guys from ebay that has bought stuff from them in the past and I seen no problems with them from what they told me. Just my 2 cents, Do the search SSAUTOCHROME and there is pages of stuff. lol

From my own experience:

The "Stone Mountain Racing" turbochargers are complete junk. I bought one and didn't even get it installed because the casting shattered when I tried to install the studs. Got my money back, no hassle.

The manifold is fine. Many people who install them simply ignore fatigue failure as a possible mode of failure, and figure if it doesn't break upon installation that it will be fine. That is unfortunately not true, as heat cycles, engine twist and vibrations put a lot of strain on components. Especially engine twist... Many of the manifold failures I have seen were likely caused by the lack of a flexpipe in the exhaust. (Since the SSAC "kits" don't come with one)

I have been using the SSAC D-series manifold in my Rio for... about 5 months now. The only problem I had was one of MY crappy welds (where I attached the manifold to the Kia flange) failed a few months in. I just have the stock bracing, a flexpipe, and no external wastegate.

No opinion on the wastegates, BTW, never used them.
