Broke the pintle cap off an injector, still ok to use?
I dropped this bag of dsm 450's I had and I busted one of the pintle caps, but the pintle itself looks fine. Do you think / have any of you guys used injectors without a cap? It looks like the cap might have some effect on the spray pattern, but I'm not sure / I don't think so.
Otherwise, anyone know where I can buy a single / set of pintle caps for some blue top dsm 450's??
Thanks.

if you actually broke off the whole endcap, as in the thin sheetmetal piece that has 12 or so holes punched in it, then no i wouldnt use it. it is a common mod for subaru people to take WRX injectors and dremel off that cap, because it DOUBLES the flow coming out of the stock injectors (but still with a good spray pattern)
now if you want 900CC injectors, i would say dremel the other 3 and viola, you're done.

I don't run any of the pintles on mine. I had a few cracked ones and insted of chancing them falling into the combustion chamber I just removed all of them. I have the Blue top DSM 450's as well. The missing pintle does not negatively affect the spray pattern. I have not had any problems

How does taking the pintal cap off impact the amount of flow that goes through the injector? I'm having a difficult time with this one. Same fuel pump, same injector with same flow rate.
When I got mine blue printed at a race shop, I broke one of my caps. I was able to fit another similar one on and shaved it down to match the other sizes.

It does not. Stealth89hatch must be getting his info mixed up or misunderstanding the question.

Like hondaguyef said the pintle cap doesn't affect flow. It would affect the spray pattern.
