i would buy a 5th gear(FOR THE MAIN SHAFT ONLY) and sleeve set,its bout 175 for everything if ya got a hook up most likely the syncro ring, slider, hub, and gear teeth are shot change and you'll be AOK

thats not the normal 5th gear grind, if u just bought the swap from hmotors or the like i would see if they would swap the tranny, otherwise it's definately the syncro and its at least $175 for the parts and at least another $200 for someone to open the tranny, plus another $200 or so to get the tranny off....if u have to open it though u may wanna just go ahead and get the 3rd gear stuff as well since those are almost always the first to go...h22 tranny's dont like 2-3 shift at 7k very much

u could try new tranny fluid, u need 3 quarts at $5 a bottle, $15 and it may do somethin for ya

Had the same problem on mine. Eventually you will be unable to select reverse gear.
Get the 5th gear syncro replaced and the problem will be solved.
