Need info on insurance please!?
Hey i was just wondering what you guys think insurance is gonna be on the R for someone like me. I truly have no idea as to what to expect, but i know its gonna be high (haha and that scares me). So, im 17 and have a perfectly clean record, no tickets or anything. Right now im paying 1300 a year on my new ranger but that basically irrelevant. Thanks for the help cause if the insurance is too high i might end up getting a gsr even though i want a type R sooo badly.
Oh come on guys, you can do better then that. Not a single reply hmmm i might have to try another forum although the rest are nowhere as good as here. It only takes a second for a simple reply.
from my experience with insurance............at your age I'd say $3,000 per year
try a small insurance company that groups the type r, gs and gsr into the same category

it depends on your driving record, age, and where you live. i pay $220 a month for me to drive my r. i'm 25 and live in south carolina where insurance rates suck azz!!!!!! plus i have some tickets.

The only way to get an accurate quote is to call some agents. You may need to supply the VIN number for a Type R, since many agents will have never heard of it, and it may not be listed on their computer separately.

TypeRInNeed - being 17 and having clean record doesn't mean much to any insurance company. (1 year experience isn't much, you know?)
Anyway, I remember when i had my GS-R as a 19 y.o., insurance was ~ $900 per 6 months.
I remember asking my insurance about R in '97, and they told me ~$3,000 per year being under 25 y.o. Many years later (as in now), I pay a little more than $100 per month on the R.
If you really want a R, this is what I would do... pay R with cash and have it as your weekend car with 3,000 mile restriction and drive it as a weekend car for a few years. Also, shell out extra $3,000 and get a daily driver. Your insurance will be a lot cheaper this way and you get to keep the R. Good luck convincing your parents though.

Weekend car? You mean have it classed as a pleasure vehicle? That's the way mine is. Good advice on the daily driver though - multi-car discount is your friend

But I still think that at 17, you're going to be screwed any way you look at it. Insurance companies love inexperienced operators (licensed/insured less than three years). Your best bet would be to probably have your parents insure it, but have you listed as a named insured. That will help you down the road
OUCH!!! with a clean lic and being 30 yrs and mine is reg in Fl i still pay 1400 a year. Don't forget the car has a high symbol of 23 same as a vette and that means high premiums. what state do you live in? that makes a world of difference too
I live in Atlanta and Geico was trying to get 3200/yr from me and I'm 27 .. screw that. I changed to State Farm and I'm paying ~1700/yr now. Booyah
It all depends on where you live basically. Can't you just get a quote from your insurance people?

Thanks for all the info guys, it looks like im most likely gonna be insured under my parents cause its gonna be ALOT less. As far as the whole pay for the car in cash and get a beater, not likely. Hahaha after all im not rich, im working my *** off just to save up for the downpayment on the loan as is, but thanks for the advice.
