Default B16 turbo problem

Hello guys,
I'm new to honda/acura car's. I have friends that I help tune their honda/acura's (but don't own one myself).

The Last one I helped has a B16 (vtec) with a OBX SS manifold and a t3/60-1 turbo, Tial 35mm, FMU 8:1 or 12:1 (don't remember), missing link, stock FPR and Fpump, RC 270cc's.

In normally aspirated trim the car runs better than with 5lbs boost !! The car really runs like CRAP.

Can you point me into the right direction? What should the initial timing be? (has no MSD BTM!).

Hope someone can help!

I think a lot of the problem might be in the fuel management than with the ignition timing. And also, OBX has a history of making inferior manifolds. It's recommended that you run a much larger fuel injector (440cc is about right) and proper fuel management via Hondata or AEM (or another suitable standalone) rather than the old "missing link, FMU" trick. Plus you're running a particularly big turbo for such a small amount of boost. From this point of view, the kit was just thrown together without a whole lot of research and was expected to work. I'd do some research and do some component swapping before expecting it to run right.

Ya, i think so too. Standalone is a really good part where you can spend your money for. Or you try it with Uberdata, thats also a possibility.

FMU+MissingLInk+Piggyback.... is possible but not recommendable

We just tested the car @ 5lbs,
Can someone make a list what to do or buy instead of the FMU/missinglink trick?

And also the prices and where to buy?

Thanks.

I would start with what Kendeall said, get some bigger injectors and Hondata Fuel Management. You can find all the prices on here. People always have HT member pricing. Search in the Performance Thread! GOOD LUCK

Isn't the AEM cheaper? And by the way: haven't read it before - you will need the 440cc injectors!
