How close would the fitment be for a Prelude sway bar? The Accord Rear from Progress is only 22mm while the Prelude's is 27mm!

That paired with a better but smaller front = baller?

 

I have a Progress rear bar on my Prelude. If you want to measure the overall width of your Accord bar I could compare it to the width of the Progress Prelude bar...if the width is the same I would think it would work

Does your Accord bar look similar?

 

See my impression was that they were similar. I'll try to get measurements on my side. I'll see if I can snag measurements. I would imagine everything but the endlinks would be similar.

I know I wouldn't be surprised if they were very close to the same...and you can always do some custom endlinks pretty easy

 

^ That was my thought as well, the extra 5mm would be worth it if all it was was additional endlinks

 

Do want 27mm rear sway.

 

Ugh, you would bring up this topic the day after my 22mm rear sway from progress showed up at my door.

If this works, perhaps i'll just keep it in the box and return it....hmm.....

The Progress bar is the same for all the Preludes (both of the recent gens) BB4 and BB6 I think? 92-01?

And we know the suspension components are similar as are the vehicles weights.

 

So I took a look and they seem VERY similar, the stock sway bushings are different, I'm not sure if that silver piece bolted in place of the old or if you had to tap the new holes for it, the stock bushings were closer to where the DC tie bar you have bolts to.

sorry this is off topic but what's the blue dc thing connected to the lower control arms and the other blue things... sorry.. I dunno the names of em. I'm curious into upping my handling and I also wanted to bump this cause I'm curious of the outcome.

the thing labeled DC in blue not the blue rods. is sometimes called a SUBFRAME CONNECTER

or subbframe bar/brace depending

Yeah, technically there is only a 5th gen Prelude Progress bar, but it works fine with either model (4th or 5th)

The silver pieces are the Progress brackets. They bolt in place of the stock Prelude brackets which are weak when up against this bar

It's a lower tie bar. It does nothing, just for looks. I don't even have it any more

Gotca, I'll have to check on the mounting points then, we definitely do not have anything similar to the silver bracket on our cars but I did notice at least one tapped thread on either side in the same spot.

Didn't get a chance to measure depressingly I couldn't find my jack haha.

 

Update.

Stock Accord EX swaybar is 45.5" from endlink to endlink (the bottom of them)

 

Alrighty, the Prelude Progress bar is approximately 44 - 44.5" across from the endlink tab to the other endlink tab. I measured this with the bar on the car so I could not a get an exact length, but I got very close.

So that's no more than 1" difference which I am very sure you could make for with different endlink mounting configurations. So as far as the length I sure this would work

 

I found a used bar and will probably try to buy it for testing and awesomeness

 

MOAR UPDATES!

So I got up underneath my car and removed some odd rubber plugs from the general area where the Progress bar's brackets install. This is what I find:



Now from the closest hole to the back to the other side it's ~ 42 inches I'm not sure because I have to wrap the tape measure under the gas tank and over the exhaust.

Further inspection reveals:



Now this is a bracket that holds up the brakelines, but is located in a similar area as the Progress/Prelude mounting point, I'm not sure if the top bolt could come out and be replaced as an endlink piece. That top hole is approximately 6-8 inches away from the closest larger hole which seems feasible for the length of the sway bar (from mounting bracket to endlink)

Lastly, here's the stock crappy Accord mounting point:



Which is a completely different mounting position from where I'd be looking at doing.

Does anyone have any input on this?

Looks like you might need to drill/tap the holes for the brackets. And that brake line holder, does it have a hardline going into it? Looks like it is mounted on a suspension member, but that couldn't be if it had a hardline.

For the endlink, I think you could piece something together with a heim joint on one end and the OEM type of link on the side that bolts to the lower control arm.

 

Does anybody know where I can order those Progress rear swaybar brackets?
