f swap in my soL..
ok i have a few questions. first is that im thinking about doing an f22 single cam swap into my soL. why? because i want to stay single cam and i plan on doing all motor, plus i can get the whole swap for about 500 bucks. im not looking to do a b series or k, or h22, i want 2 stay n/a single cam. would doing this be the exact same as an h22 swap? would i need to do any frame mods? what all would i need from the donor accord? would i need the axles, wiring harness, and mounts? i know id need to cut out for the shifter assembly but waht about shifter cables? any info would be helpful. pZ

yeah the casting for the tranny and the block are the same as the h22 or h23 so axels mounts and alot of moding. converting the shift linkage to a cabel linkage ext. not really worth it

yea its only 500 for the swap but then u need mounts and labor, and your axle angles will be ALL F'D up. all for a freakin honda accord motor.
so 500 for swap.
then another 700 for misc parts and brackets and other bullshit to get it all to work
you can get a VERY capable GSR or B16 motor for that much
with so many OTHER options out there. and GSR swaps going for cheaper prices everyday.
WHY would you want an F22 swap?
sometimes "different" isnt always good. look at emo people lol.

because MAYBE spending 500$ on a motor is a better idea than spending 3500$ on the same amount of power
and look at the specs for an F22, put an H23 transmission on it and run with a GSR for a fraction of the price
youll also need a b series shift linkage with a B series del sol, and wont with an F series
OP, search for H series into an Eg, its the same thing

Re: (nix94delsol)
thats exactly how im thinking about it, if i did b, i would do b20v, so say 500 for motor, 500 for head and a g for the tranny, if i did the f22, i would do all the labor myself, ive takn machining for a year, 3 years of metal fabrication/custom fabrication, so id spend 500 on the whole swap from a donor accord, buy an h22 tranny for 200, and then mounts. i dont think that money wise, that this will cost alot. i like single cams because parts are cheap and they are underdogs. would i need the whole engine wiring harness from the donor accord? or could i use the one from my car. i have a 96 del sol s, it has a 5spd d16y7 non-vtec.

I think the user redstandardzchatch or something like that did an F22 swap into an EF. If you look through his threads you might find some stuff that will help.
The F22 is a really low compression motor, if you wanna stay N/A and make some power youll probably want to look at new pistons or something. Bisimoto is a reputable company I can name off my head that makes a more agressive cam for the F

Re: (yoRt)
I wouldn't do it. Sure it's original and cheap BUT for about the same price you can get a B20B/Z and not have to worry about fab work or aftermarket engine mounts which you will need if you go with the F22.
B20 will be a) easier to install, b) has more aftermarket parts and c) you can add any VTEC B Series head whenever you have the cash.

Re: (queda)
one reason i want to do it is because i feel there is aftermarket support and plenty of it. most of the h22 parts will fit an F. yeah u can find a cheap b20 motor, but then if u want a good tranny, that would prolly be about a grand, and then a vtec head about 500 more. so i would spend 2000 before mounts or axles or anything, id want to get prolly hasport because they are reputable. i could buy and build the f to make more power and pay for everything, and it would still cost less than a b series, plus it would be a good different.
