Default 01-04 civic alternator fries

just wanted to warn everybody of a issue with our cars. If your alternator gets loose at all and rattles aroud it will fry your ECU. It sends a signal to the ecu saying that it is over charging and for some reason fries the ecu. My dealership wasn't even aware of this at first. Just wanted to warn everyone as my bottom bolt broke on my car and it isn't a cheap fix and it seems that no one knows about this yet.
symptoms;
you'll start your car and check engine light will flash, idle will go up and down along with hearing a relay switch click on and off. It may even stall your car when the idle gets so low. After running for a short period the idle will no longer jump and will remain normal. At this time your RPM gauge will no longer work. While going down the road it feels as if when you hit around 2500rpm it shuts off gas going to the motor so you must up shift and always be about 2 gears ahead. It's kind of hard to explain and I'm no english major by no means but it didn't seem like anyone on here had a clue and the honda mechanic that's been working their since 1982 didn't even know until I argued with him about it. So watch it as it ain't cheap to fix and will drive you nuts to figure out what it is as a you can't even get a reading off it either. GOOD LUCK!

the bolts in the alternator act as a ground and that is why it fries the ECU. Just a heads up, you would think they would make a real ground so that this problem wouldn't happen. Just wanted to warn everyone!

This happened to me. My car was at the dealership for 2 weeks. They were stumped at first and started ripping out stuff and replacing it..
It seems to be a really rare problem.

it is as the dealership I go to is the #1 for TN, NC and SC and they have never seen it till me...YIPEE...I'm thinkin about hooking up an additional ground just to be safe as I don't want to go through all this again. Just can't wait to get back in my car again today when it's finished.

That sounds like a nuisance, to say the least. Looks like I'll be adding a ground to my alternator.
