I dont understand why a engine high revved could cause a hole in the block. And I know it is possible since it happened to my moms camry. But what exactly causes it? Bad balancing? Pressure? If anything I think the pistons/valves would hit...

low oil pressure (stock pump sucks) then you get rod knock and spin a bearing and if you keep driving on it like that then the rod will break

not only that, the tensile stress on the rod bolts. I once heard somewhere that high rpm causes more stress than high boost, obviously there's limits to that, but i believe that the stress on the rod bolts is increased exponentially as rpms go up. So considering that motor has toothpick rods, i'm assuming all those parts are really stressed at B16 rpm's

my d16y7 motor blew on me last winter, when i was stuck in a snow bank and i over rev'd it and a oil was leaking out of my oil pan because i had a crack and it blew a huge hole on the bottem end of my motor. my tips to you is, keep low RPM's and check oil level LOL!

My y7 threw a rod last year, Hole in block.
I guess i was low on oil. but the light never came on
whatever. motor is crap anyway.
Actually my bearing spun first but i kept driving it till boom.

I blew my piston arm on cylinder 3 and It punched through the block behind the cat and flew away. Its from to much high reving the metal gets hair line fractures and thats the end of story.

Haha.. look at what happened to me with my first setup Ls-vtec... i was running with only 2 oil liters... and i revved til 9k rpm... look.
I had a spun bearing... that got stuck on the rod... then everything went worse... (That´s my friend holding the end of the rod) jajaja...

My advice:
1.-Add the ARP bolts to the rods
2.-Check the oil constantly
3.-If you hear... clack clack clack clack clack... plz stop running
4.-Don´t rev the engine past 8k if you don´t have an upgraded valve train (I mashed 3 pistons by doing this)

Haha... the hilarous thing... is that, as a noob... i though that i still could fix the crankshaft. I took it to a "head shop" (I don´t know how it´s called... but is the place where you p&p your head and stuff like that)

when u go ls-vtec the ls piston and rods can only hold up to 7,000 rpms... u would need to change thm to like type r or somthin... tat is how everybody blows thm by over revving past 7,000

I had the stock rods with ITR pistons. :D
But i got the point. What about the stock crankshaft? How many rpm can it hold?
