inside your distributor if your car is 92-95, 96 and newer its behind the lower timing cover, and reads off the timing gear
dont get smart with me rookie
and buy a damn manual for your car

Is this the sensor that is behind the crank pulley? If so, then you'll have to take your crank pulley off, the lower portion cover off, and you'll see it sitting right there. It's real easy to change out. The only hard thing to do is taking the crank pulley bolt out...

wow I'm glad I have a '92.
the only tdc sensor I've replaced was on an '88 prelude. talk about easy, it's on the exhaust cam all by itself, not even in the distributor.

I'm going to laugh if you bought a prelude s and thought it was a vtec

yea pretty sure it says on the block H22A1 and in real big letters VTEC on the valve cover
manufactured date of car 8/1992
10th digit of VIN is P therefore its an early 93
either way 250 buks for a prelude isnt a bad deal...or is it?

nope, 250 for any car is a great deal, let alone a vtec prelude. if all you need to replace is the distributor you got a great deal.
just buy a remanufactured distributor for about $150, bolt it on, reset the ecu and you should be good.

obviously if i knew i wouldnt have asked, now if your so smart what does the check engine light #8 mean? does it mean my tdc sensor is bad? or does mean my car skipped a few teeths and my timing is off about 10 or 15 degrees? how would you go about it? oh ya im a ******* rookie and dont know **** thats why im here, trying to educate myself
you know, i've posted this before and i think i will again
i think it absolutely neccessary for prelude owners who want to open their hood, buy a helms manual. if every prelude owner did this, we wouldn't have so many stupid questions like this. if you want to educate yourself, buy the manual and read the damn thing

you can't spare 64 bux? heck they even have the ripoff versions on ebay for like 3 bux. if you can't afford that, well i don't think you can afford gas either.
what you are asking isn't something that can easily just be walked thru thoroghly over the internet. just getting there can take ppl hours because of the stuff you have to remove/move around. you will also need to know torque specs and have to right tools to do this as well.

today i took a dizzy offa a f22a1, tore it apart and took out the tdc sensor. At first i was leary if the sensor would be the same seeing its a sohc motor and mine is a dohc. The distributor housing on the f22a1 and h22a1 are different but actually have the same internals. I then continued to take the h22a1 distributor apart. I replaced the bushing and seal that the shaft runs through, as well as the tdc sensor. All i had to modify was the wires from the tdc sensor. I had to make them about 2 inches longer. Put it all back to together. BINGOOO VTEC BABY........screw spending $200 on a dizzy like some of you had told me. I recommend anyone doing this if they have the same problem I had. It is lots cheaper and is not hard at all to do. WIll also work for the Crank angle sensor, Crank Positions sensor, and the icm.
