pr3-3 & pr3-2 head stamp. what are the differences? specs?
I have found there is no correlation between hte PR3-X, and a year or model. I have a PR3-4 (head cast in 91, but in a 93 EDM VTi), so do some ITR owners I have talked to. My buddy has a 96 ITR with PR3-3 and another has the PR3-3 in a 99 ITR, and some have PR3-2, I have seen 99-00 Si's with PR3-2 also. I am curious myself to find out what the deal is with it.

I totally agree with this statement. Those numbers are not a reliable way of telling what year the head is or what engine it came from.
the only way to tell what year the head is, is by the circle with emobossed numbers right above the exhaust port on cylinder #4 as seen here:

..other than what vehicle model a PR3 head comes from, thats pretty easy to figure out, cuz all JDM 89-01 civics with B16's are mainly either SiR/VTi/Si ; JDM 89-01 integra's XSi/RSi/B17-GSR or Type-R.

My kids then says "98" in the first circle.
We bought the car from an auction.
THe valve cover looks like a GSR cos the "H" for honda is not on it.
B16 bottom block.
My question is , is it possible that he has a GSR head on this b16?

ok i got an engine from a friend in a trade and my head says pr3-4 and the circles say 00...so is this a b16 head made in 2000??? the block is a b18b...which is an ls block if im correct......
I know this is a old thread but I just bought a head PR3-2. Those dumb *** scuffed off the date on the head...I think it's a b17 head since it came with b17 camshaft (b17 groves)...
shouldn't b16 and b17 have same valve train and same size combustion chamber?

maybe if i plug in a dizzy from either 1, i might? dude said it was a 2000 SI. Came with b16 OBD1 manifold and has b17 camshaft...so i'm lost here
it honestly really doesn't matter. it's all the same. the mounting holes for obd1 and obd2 distributors are the same. the only difference is in cams between the b17 and b16. even going by a head stamp doesn't guarantee people didn't swap out anything removable in the head.
ok, what about a pr3-1 cylinder head? i had a choice between a pr3-3 and pr3-1. after reading all this, i feel like an idiot for getting the pr3-1
