can someone please explain to me what line bore is. i'm gonna get my block sleeved by golden eagle and most of the post mentioned line bore. i have no idea what that means. thanks

 

Boring the cylinders to a larger diameter to accomodate larger pistons or sleaves.

 

boring horizontally through the crankshaft main bearing journals to make sure the crank isn't in a bind.

 

Line boring refers to the boring method that touches several surfaces at once.

Well it's actually align bore, not line bore. Sometimes when installing sleeves, the block gets twisted up and throws the main bearing saddles out of alignment. When you install the crank, it will freeze up rather than spin easily. Align boring straightens everything out. Not a great thing to have to do to a block as it messes up all the stock geometry.

Had to do align boring to my B18C, Darton sleeved. Is it true this job may make the aligning of the oil pump gear difficult?
