Default Jack and tool storage

Hi, I just bought an '05 Civic LX coupe from a dealer and found the jack and tools sitting around in the trunk but not attached to anything. On my old '93 the jack was mounted to a bracket welded onto the rear frame panel but this car has nothing there. I've seen some cars' tools are packaged in a nice styrofoam block with the proper cutouts. I checked the part diagrams on Majestic Honda's site but couldn't find anything that shows how the jack and tools are stored. A search on this forum didn't bring anything up, either. Can someone tell me how they are put away? Is there a styro block that I need to buy? Thanx!

I don't know that they ever came with anything besides a vinyl bag to hold some of the items, but the jack was just sitting in my trunk when I bought my '02. I could be wrong, though.

I have placed it all in a small plastic tool box, which tucks nicely in the spare wheel well.

Thanks, It Wasn't Me, did you buy your '02 used or new? I'm almost positive Honda being who they are that they mounted the jack somewhere. It's unlike them to just let it sit around. On my '93 the tools were in the bag and jammed under the spare so I can do the same there. But I'm trying to figure out what to do with the jack.

I bought it used. That's why I can't speak with any certainty about what it came with as far as storing, or if they had it mounted somewhere. Mine was just sitting in the trunk.

I'll look into it.

Under the trunk latch there is a gap you can fit the jack in. Just slide it under there and lift it up a little bit and it will fit snug in there.

Bingo! I just found it's illustration. The vinyl bag o' tools just sits on the spare tire. Time to go rearrange my trunk.

Edit: The illustration I'm referring to is in the Owner's Manual. Your car should come with one.

Cool, I'll check on that gap when I pick up the car tomorrow. Thanx!

Picture for reference..

I think I'm just gonna keep mine in the tool box, though.

Thanks for the pic. I thought I felt around under there because that's where my old Civic had it, but felt nothing that seemed like a metal bracket. I'll check again today. Cheers.

There is no bracket. You lower the jack so that it fits in that gap, then you twist the handle and raise the jack so that it wedges itself into the gap.

I didn't like the fact that the base of the jack sits metal-to-metal in the trunk. That's why I've opted to keep mine in the plastic tool box. Although, you could just put a small piece of cardboard under the jack base and it'd be okay.

Interesting. It must be related to production year, then.

Yep, that's similar to the picture in my manual. I ended up bending the tab in the rear panel down a bit and then screwing the jack into it directly from the trunk floor. I would rather that and have it be secure. The styrofoam tool holder would be a nice touch, but it isn't in the parts diagrams : (
