Clunking?? I'm not sure but I think I have the same problem. I sprayed the swaybar bushings with Silicone spray. You are technically suppose to replace those bushing if it's worn out. I also sprayed all moving suspension parts with silicone spray. And I went crazy and sprayed the top of the of the spring/shock mount.

It went away. But do the swaybar bushings first. Spray into the gaps. and let it soak, and spray again.

Go back and check every bolt on there... tie everything down again...
Don't forget no bushings and washers... make sure they're not worn out...
Open a door and stand on the floor of the car and rock it for a sec. if hear anything just go back and grease sum parts up that you think may clunk.
Just make sure bushings are good..

thankx for all the responses guys. Yeah it does feel like it's gonna fall apart. I will try to tighten and grease everything and see what happens. How do I know if bushings are worn out... cracks? So silicone spray is best for lubing?

silicone spray is good for lubing plastic/rubber parts in contact with metal. i dont know if its the best. i used silicone spray on my sway bar bushings, did a great job, but didnt last very long. and to tell if the bushings are bad you should be able to visually see cracks and even chips on the bushing. or just touch it, new rubber bushings should still feel somewhat like hard rubber, if its rouch and feels like clay or soemthing its bad.

#4 and #2 in this pic are the most likely problems; but also check the radius arms #6 and #8, I've seen those front nuts back off and allow slack that makes a real "thunking" noise

Check your upper & lower ball joints, Inner tie rods and tie rod ends and the bushings in your upper and lower control arms... they could also be causing the clunk....A little bit of spray grease will only hide a possibly bigger problem in this area. If you find something lose don't spray it with grease, replace it please. That will be one less unsafe vehicle on the road. Grease is for squeaks and rusty nuts -n-bolts not for a clunk, clank or bang coming from you suspension.

Hi, I have the same problem with my 98 Accord, I've had to to 3 different garages and no one can find the problem. I had one garage change my sway bar bushings but that did nothing. Could it be the struts? Let me know how you make out. Thanks.

I have the same situation on my 94 Accord Coupe, except it is really bad on the back right. When i hit a bump it sounds like the tire is gonna come up through the body. I just replaced all the bushings and ball joints in the front but the back looked good so i just lubed and left em. I put Eibach Pro Springs on and it started shortly after the install. Everything is torqued to spec and was done with the weight of the car on the suspension so i have no clue what is going on.

AND it also just started about a week or two ago when i installed my eibach pro springs and kyb agx struts.. im kinda scared now, haha... but yeah, i changed mounts, lower strut bushings, shocks and springs, and im getting some kinda clunking back there too...

I had the "rattle in the trunk" "clunk in the back" type sound, replaced/lubed new sway bar bushings, about 13 dollars from the dealer + 30-45min of work, 4 bolts, easy.

However I don't think the LX model came with a swaybar, as in no bushings or swaybar to go bad, in which case i vote exhaust/cat shields, can anyone correct me?

LX only has front sway bars, none in rear.

welI I had a closer look and most the bushings have holes through them! Brought it in to get checked out and they told me new bushings/links/tie rod/ball joint. I think I'll just replace the bushings for noew to see if that fixes it since they said the ball joint/tie rod only has a little bit of play...

Are bushings hard to replace? I heard they need to be pressed out.

you can replace the sway bar bushings yourself but i believe all the other ones require a hydrualic press to be removed and installed, not 100% sure on that so hopefully someone else can verify.

Maybe I'm not seeing the response on here. But I had the same issue. It sounded like a rubber mallet was being hit against my chassis. Ended up being my front A arm bushing. The bushing is responsible for holding the A arm up off the slot in the frame and off the top as well. So when the bushing exploded (damn near) the A arm was slapping the frame whenever I hit a bump. I could have sworn it fixed some stability issues in my steering as well during speeds of 65+ give or take.
Best of luck to you boys and girls. Replacing it sucks 😂😂
