Wheel Width effect
What is the main difference in performance between 14x7's all round and 14x6's? Which would be better for autocross? Is the performance sacrified when the tires are stretched out to fit the wheels.
I have a set of 14x7 +8 offset supra wheels and will soon have a pair of Advan A3A's 14x6's +6 offset and a pair of non-turbo 240Z wheels which are 14x6's +10 offset. My car is an AE86.
What I want to know is if there is a noticable difference when running 6" wide wheels as opposed to 7" wide wheels.
thanks. sorry if this topic is a repost, i searched and didnt come up with what i was looking for.

That is a very very tough question to answer. There are so many many variables at play. In snow or in wet you should get better traction with a narrower wheel. In dry you might get a little less. It's very debatable.
this post was meant to answer that question but never really did. Try reading it, you might find a few interesting things.
Cheers.
