Default Wheel Help : The paint is...

fucked up.

I was experimenting with all these polishing up ideas, by removing the paint. I used Jasco because I couldn't find any Aircraft paint stripper. The first "coat" didn't work too great, so I tried a second coating.

Here is how it looks today.

I am thinking I should sand it down, but any other suggestions?

Both times I left it on over 30 minutes.

did you leave a light coat? or a heavy coat?

i stripped my rims and it was a bitch to take off ALL the paint completely.

What did you do? Coat after coat?

The first time I left a heavy coat, the second time I left a light coat...all coats were Jasco spray on.

I used the gel, not the spray can. that might be a reason.

i applied a thick coat. the paint would bubble up and MOST of it would be easily removable with water. but other stubborn bits i had to sand/dremel off the rest.

it takes time. but i got lazy and never finished the way i would like them to be. looks okay enough for me

You can get airplane stripper almost any auto parts store, even Oreillys carries it on shelves.

What sanding materials did you use? I was planning on buying the gel next time anyways..so I could go over what I missed instead of spraying **** everywhere that I think missed (if you know what I mean )

I've been to Lowe's twice now, haven't seen one can. :-(

Maybe I should try Home Depot? I need to go back anyways, to get some sanding things so I will try both places, possibly.

Just call the Hardware stores/Automotive Part Stores. Much quicker than searching through them all.

i used 800 grit sandpaper, scotch brite, and steel wool.

Scotch brite worked the best to get rid of the stubborn pieces. i still got left over steel wool that i didnt even use. i SHOULD sand it with 1000 and 2000 grit and then a metal polish.

The aircraft stripper i believe i got it at home depot. the jasco one i got at a paint store, but home depot has it too. if you cant find it, ask them

have fun trying to take off the OEM primer

Gonna have to do it the hard way.

Sand it, clean it, repaint it.

oem wheels are powdercoated arent they? that could be why it takes forever to remove the paint with a remover?
