Wheel Bearings
Question for you guys. I was driving under an overpass and my car makes a weird hissing,grinding sound. It sounds like its coming from the wheel area. Would worn wheel bearings cause this sound?

The most common cause for the sound you describe is brake pads getting thin, possibly with the "squeaker" (metal tab) coming into contact with the rotor. Based on the strategy of starting by checking the things that are most common, easiest to check, and cheapest to fix, that's what I'd look at first.

Thats the first thing I checked the pads look fine although I see some etching in the rotors. I ask about wheel bearings because the car has around 180k miles on it. The other thing I thought of was the suspenion im pretty sure its shot the car has had generic coilovers with stock struts for about a year and a half now. I can hear a similar noise when going over bumps but I dont thnk its the same noise...
