Tire / Rim Mount Help
Hello Guys , I'm the owner of a 05 Civic EX Coupe in NHBP ...
I just got some 17 inch Rota Grids in Royal Black w/ Polished Lip ... and I got some 205/40/17 Falken Ziex.
I got the tires/rims mounted today and I just noticed .. @ 12am ... that the rim kind of sticks out of the tire. There is like a lil finger gap b/t the tire and rim. The rims are 17x7.5 ... I should have probably gotten fatter tires.
Should the rim stick out a little from the tire (like a lil less than a finger gap)?
Can I expect future probs?
What should I do?

According to the T&RA (tire & rim association) handbook, a 7.5" wide rim is the proper fitment for a 205/40R17 tire. So you are well within the spec for that tire, and shouldn't have anything to worry about as far as the fitment is concerned.
However, I'm having a hard time picturing this "gap"...do you have pics?? If you feel that it may not be safe, I would recommend you take it back to where you had them mounted and let them inspect it. Voice your concern about this "gap" and be SURE that the tire & wheel was mounted properly. Is it like this on all 4 wheels?? If there was truly a "gap" of that size, I would be surprised the tire bead would stay mounted to the rim and hold air.
I suggest taking it back for a 2nd opinion...but the tire & wheel sizes are within spec at least.
Keep us posted

There is really nothing wrong with what you have setup, but the tires wont provide any type of protection for the wheels. If you accidently turn too far into a curb when parking or something, expect to at the minimum visually damage it, or if at a sharper angle, physically damage the wheel.

i believe falken is known to make slightly smaller tires when compared to tires of the same size by other manufacturers. a pic would help us as it does not sound right based on your description. i think the wheel guy would have noticed if anything was wrong.

Re: (CB7.v2)
7.5 is fine on a 205/40/17. Nothing else really will clear unless your vehicle isnt lowered.
You just lose a bit of lip protection on the wheel as stated above from curbs, potholes, manhole covers.
Check out them 240 guys, they love to stretch the tire on everything. I know someone that did a 17x9.5 wheel on a 205/40/17
