(relatively) cheap wheels?
My wheels (17 inch american racing estrellas, *very* used) are in pretty poor shape and I'm looking to get some new wheels for my 93 dx.
I'm willing to try 16 inch wheels but would prefer 17s (the car is on poorly maintained county roads alot so it helps to have that little extra clearance just in case there's crap in the road).
I'm looking for something along the lines of 5 spoke, either silver or black with a red outline. My budget for this is approx. $500 and I don't want to buy used if I can help it. Also, they need to lightweight, yet durable enough for everyday use.
Any suggestions? Thanks.

17" is a poor choice for your older Civic because tires aren't available in sizes that match your car. Stick with 16" or smaller. With 16", you can use 205/40-16 or 195/45-16 tires. With 15", 195/50-15.

If the car is driven on poorly maintained roads, that's all the MORE reason to use smaller wheels (15" or even 14"). That way, the taller sidewall of the tire provides more protection for the wheels against damage from potholes, etc.

Nah, the ~$500 budget is just for the wheels, tires not included. I can go a little over if need be, I just don't wanna spend $200 per wheel or anything like that.
The reason 17 inch wheels were on it is because I just pulled the wheels off of my first car (a 92 dx hatch that met a tree head on) and never really thought about it. I'm not an expert on tires or wheels either for that matter, which is why I was asking here.
16 inch I can live with... The car isn't lowered at all (it's running on an accord suspension actually, though that will probably change once I can afford a good aftermarket suspension setup) but clearance is definitely a concern.
The hatch I spoke of? It met it's fate at the hands of a tree when I lost control after trying to avoid a rather large armadillo that my hatch was too low to make it over. The hatch was my first car at 16 had been lowered way too much by the previous owner and I was too young/stupid at the time and didn't know enough about cars at that point to do anything about it. I have since learned my lesson and have chalked up at least 1 dead armadillo, a redbird (freak incident, I tell ya!), and a possum or two.
Back to the point, I appreciate the advice so far. Now, I need some buying suggestions for budget wheels.
Again, thanks.

Edge Racing has wheel-tire packages for $500-$600 for your car.

Your money can go a lot further if you consider used wheels. Just for example, there are lots of sets of used alloy 15" wheels from Integra GS-R's out there to be had for ~$200 or thereabouts, and they should fit your car fine.
@sikocivic: thanks, checking out the link right now.
@nsxtasy: I've considered GS-R wheels, but I'm really worried about clearance. Being able to drive over obstructions in the road such as dead woodland creatures is a must, and downsizing to a 15" worries me.

That's correct.
AFAIK all GS-R wheels can be used on all older Civics. You would want to use a smaller tire size - 195/50-15 instead of the GS-R's 195/55-15. OTOH if you find a set of GS-R wheels with tires, you could go ahead and use them up before replacing them with the proper tire size for your car.

The tire size info is very helpful, thanks. I found some replica GS-R wheels on ebay from these guys: http://stores.ebay.com/Wheels-and-Caps
I aplogize for being new to wheels and tires, but the advice has been extremely helpful. Thanks a bunch!
