Default question on tire width

I currently ride on 185/65/15 tires. I want to get 15X7 wheels but the tires are only approved for 5-6.5 inch wide wheels. Do you guys think it will be ok to mount the 185's on the 7inch wide wheel?

I wouldn't. But there are probably better tire sizes for your car anyway; 185/65-15 is an oddball size, not usually used on Honda/Acura cars.

What kind of car do you have? (year, model, version)

I doubt any tire mounting place would mount that for you due to liability.

probably better off with 195s or something. I didn't even know 185 came in 15" I thought it was just for 14" and losers like me who run 13".

This is my other sn. I have an 02 civic ex. To my knowledge only the 01-02 civic ex's (possibly 03) came in this size.

Yes, it did. Interesting.

As I suspected, the Tire Rack shows NO performance tires in that size in its top performance categories. However, you can use 195/60-15 tires, and there are a few of those around. The Yokohama ES100 summer tire comes in 195/60-15, and it can be mounted on 15x7 wheels (although that's the widest 15" wheel approved and it might look stretched). Or, if you need to use the tires in snow and cold as well as warmer conditions, then you could get the Kumho Ecsta ASX all-season tire in 195/60-15.

Why are you getting 15x7 wheels? That seems awfully wide for that diameter. Any reason you wouldn't want to consider 16x7 wheels? There are several decent summer tires that come in 215/50-16, including the Dunlop Direzza DZ101 and the Avon Tech M500, they offer a lower profile "look", and they shouldn't look as stretched onto the rim. The Kumho Ecsta ASX all-season tire also comes in 215/50-16.

I plan on getting rota slipstreams and want to keep my wheels at 15inches. The reason for the 7 inch wide wheel is because it is the only size that come in 56.1 hub size (don't want to buy hubcentric rings).

So i guess i shouldn't mount the 185's on the 7 inch wide wheel then?
