oo| Wheel Database: Original designs vs. Replicas |oo
In this thread, I'd like to have a comparison of original wheel designs compared to their replica counterparts. This will be a nice feature for anyone looking to purchase wheels, so that they know if they're going to be purchasing the real deal or someone's attempt at faking a real wheel.
Rules:
1. This is NOT a discussion thread on why replicas are good/bad. So keep any negative opinions to yourself.
2. This thread is currently open to the public, to help broaden the database for users to see.
3. I'll update the first few posts to include new submissions, and do my best to save images for future use if the image hosts ever go down.
4. When submitting, please include key features to spot when trying to see the difference between the original and the replicas.

Advan Racing SA3-R
Original Design:
- Original color options: Black with polished lip, Black with red anodized lip, Black with blue anodized lip, Gold with polished lip, Silver with polished lip.
- Key Features: "Made in Japan" emboss on backside of wheel's hub. Welded 3-piece wheel. Advan center caps are embossed brass. Final production date: 1998.
Rota HM3:
- Key Features: One piece cast wheel. No defining embosses on the hub-side of the wheel.
Konig MP3:
- Key Features: One piece cast wheel. No defining embosses on the hub-side of the wheel. Fake barrel bolts. MP3 writing on removable center cap. (Not shown: Konig hub cap that holds the center cap on.)
Original Design:

I'll keep filling it in as I get free time, but I do start classes tomorrow and I'm going on a trip to New York in a couple weeks to visit my sister. But, I'll keep plugging away at it. Hopefully it can be a nice reference.

they arent grids, they are ssk-031's the rota grids line up with the valvestem, the ssk's do not. the only difference between the ssk's and a real set of te37's are stickers, stamps inside on hub side, and they say 620kg on the face which te37's do not

Real Watanabe RS-8's. Here is a photo of mine, they are not in the best condition, but if you look at the additional photo's you will see the stamp on the rear of the face that shows they are real.
