Default Offset/width specs.

Let me see if I got this straight. I want to run a set of 16x7 Rota Slips. If I run a 40mm offset as opposed to a 45mm I will have less chance of rubbing and with the 7in width I could run a 225. So all in all a 225/40/16 on a 16x7 +40mm would be the best choice? TIA

basically you're asking if the +40 would be better than the +45? yes.
and if you can run a 225 on a 7" wheel? yes.

Depends on where you are concerned about the tire rubbing. Basically, the +40 would stick out the wheel well farther than the +45.

I was worrying about it rubbing the fender with such a wide tire. I just want to make sure nothing rubs and that im making the best selection that I can. From what im reading I would want to adjust mysetup to a +45mm to keep the tire better inside the wheel well.

that may rub on the inside though you'd really have to find someone that has tried it.

soooo bump!

IMO just get +40 offset with 205/45/16...it's the sure deal and will save you some bills in the process.

I'll find out in about 2 weeks how wide a wheel and tire can be run on a 96 hatch- Ordered wheels 15 x 7.5" with 225-50-15 tires. I plan on rolling the fenders and quarters to make them clear. wish me luck.

im about to pick up some 16x7 slips...I am having the same dilemma, want as wide a tire as possible (i was thinking 215/50/16) but would go wider if possible....i guess ill need to roll the fenders but that shouldn't be an issue....

I had 215/40/17s. After I rolled the fenders everything was fine. Not sure what the offset was on those rims.....

hmmm.... 225 on a 40 is gonna be cutttin it really really close. i would do a 215 45 16 if i were you. there would be no problems with rubbing, i am gettin some 38 offset SSR's and running 215's, and thats gonna be close also!

Default optimal offset

along the same lines... what is the optimal offset for 16" rims on 205/45s for a teg? I've heard that 35 - 45 are fine, but is there an offset that is preferable?

I just ordered slips with a 45 offset and I'm wondering if I should have gotten 40 instead. My car is dropped less than 2" so I'm not too concerned about rubbing.
