Tire Prefrence
Ok i have been researching tires for a while and i am getting some 205 40 ZR17's this summer. Now I have been thinking of getting the Yokohama Paradas because of there extremely good dry traction. I am also thinking of getting the Potenza RE730's but cant decide.
what tires would you recomend for that size? I am going to use these for just normal driving

Re: Tire Prefrence (fifthgearonline)
I can't say enough good things about the Dunlop SP9000. It's their highest rated tire. Found stock on some AMG Mercedes. Probably the best tire in rain and also a very quiet tire. I have them and their overall performance is great! My tire wear after over a year has been minimal. You can research them at http://www.tirerack.com. There is a section where users can write a review and rate the tire in various catagories from 1 to 10. You'll find the SP9000 to be rated amoungst the highest.

james, are you planning on running these new tires come wintertime or just switch back to your old OEMs?

Bridgestone Potenza RE730's FOR SURE. I already bought two sets. in 205/50/15 for my 99SI and my 00GSR rims. They are really really sticky. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/surveyresults/uhp.jsp they rated #4 and have AA traction and 300 Tread Wear. Best tire...or go with Kumho's they are pretty good also but have a 280 treadwear / A traction. I just bought a new set last week for $398 TOTAL w/ mount & balance. They are cheap too! Other wise if you got money to burn I would buy the Bridgestone S03 Pole Position, best tire in the market but it'll cost you $140 EACH!!!

All the other ITR owners seem to love the Falken Azenis. I can't comment because I've never used them.
Bridgestone Potenza S03s would be a good choice IMO.

toyo t1-s in the rear and nitto drag radials in the front.. thats been my setup on every car i've had for about 3 years.. the toyo's screech before they slip out.. which saved me a few times.. unlike yoko's that just slip out and don't make a sound

-Kumho 712's no question, price was pretty good compared to other performance tires, best bang 4 the buck if that's what you're looking for, dry/wet grip is excellent

Re: Tire Prefrence (ek9hatch)
S-03s on Slipstreams 195/50/15 - Ws (less than $76 each) (wider than most tires, so $123 for 205s or $76 for 195s. i think i saved some money)
Azenis on 14" black stockies 195/60/14 - Hs ($42 each, good for auto-x)
