Default Anybody run 15's on the front and 16's on the back?

I have a 96 DC2 and I am in kind of a dilemna, I am buying a set of 235/60/15 MT ET Streets for the front, I plan on mounting them on 15" Slips. All the cars I see with this big front tire it makes the matching rear 15" rim/tire look very small, I was interested in running a 16" wheel in the back to make the car stand out a little less with the huge front tires, so my question is...... is it safe to do and are there any pictures of cars setup like this? What would be a good tire size for the rear, 205/??/16? Thanks in advance

i dont think it would be a problem........ Im just wondering what the purpose is for running that huge 235/60 mickey Thompson up front? Is this for Drag/Track use???? or do you plan on running this setup daily? its already gonna look a little goofy with such a large tire in the front. Not to mention that with some high offset rota's your gonna have a problem fitting that tire in the wheel well. you'd have to run a bigger tire in back just to make the ride height look even........

Your front tire is the top Listing.......... Last three are a few suggestions just to keep the ride height of the car somewhat even and in comparison to the front.

Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/Mile Difference
235/60-15 5.6in 13.1in 26.1in 82.0in 773 0.0%
205/60-16 4.8in 12.8in 25.7in 80.7in 785 -1.6%
205/55-16 4.4in 12.4in 24.9in 78.2in 811 -4.7%
215/60-16 5.1in 13.1in 26.2in 82.2in 771 0.2%

^^i think that last listing would be the closest in shape/size. I'd like to see how this looks!! LMK

I want this huge tire to attempt to put down 600whp in 3rd gear on the street, gearing will not be a problem as I have B16 1,2,3 and GSR 4,5 now at this power level.

To some it will look goofy, but my car is mostly function before form, plus alot of people around here will know why I have that big tire on the front. I have SK2 Drag Launch rear coilovers so I have it jacked up an extra inch or so in the rear already so I am not worried so much about ride height. I figured with a 16" wheel in the back it would make it look less noticeable to unknowing people that I am running a monster tire on the front.

What offset would you recommend? I am going to roll the fenders and I have already raised the car up in the front to accomidate these tires.

i thought that when i first read your post you were doing this for a daily thing......

600hp track monster is more like it.

im actually unsure of what offset and wheel width you'd have to run in order for that tire to fit inside the knuckle. I know there is an article somewhere on H-T that explains how to measure the distance between the face of the hub and the outer top side of the knuckle. You should be able to use that as a reference for what size wheel/offset w/tire combo you can use. Let me see if i can track it down.

it might actually fit, but the inside of the tire will come real close to hitting the knuckle. whats the width on those slips? 6.5 or 7? and i think the offset on those are usually 42 or 45.

I was going to get the 7" wide Slips, MT's site says minimum of 7" wide, but I have seen a couple cars with this same tire on OEM Blades and Swirlies and their 6.5"

Actually this is for a daily thing, not a daily driver...... but hopefully driven every day after i come home from work.

you might burn through those MT's quickly. Whats the compound rating on those things? But yeah i'd definitely get the 7" with the lower offset.

I dont know the compond, but I hear people are getting more mileage out of them than BFG's, otherwise I would just get a 225/50/15 BFG, my last set (205/50/15)lasted ok but I hear good things about the MT.

I am still a little nervous about how these are going to fit, I might just settle for 225/50/15 BFG's and be done with it.
