15x9 fitment pic request
I am thinking of getting 15x9 +36 wheels (with 225/45-15 toyo R1R tires).... but i have no idea if they are going to fit and what issues i am going to run into....
im sure i will have to roll and pull the fenders ... i want to avoid fender flares...
if anyone has 225/45-15 tires mounted on 15x8 rims id like to see a picture of those also ..

Two questions:
1) What car is this for?
2) What exactly is your end goal, what are you trying to accomplish?
Oh, and chances are 15X9 will rub and you won't be able to get a correctly size tire. Just tell us what you are trying accomplish and we can then help you do it.

Re: (old man neri)
toyo r1r release is pending if not out yet i need to call toyo on it, it was to be released in June i think sizing spec is 15x8.5 at most so i think 15x9 should be ok....
949racing sell's 15x9 wheels i seen someone on here run 15x10's and 15x8.5 keizer custom rims i think or kodiak... ive seen people fit 15x8's no problem... but with little skinny tires stretched to the extreme...
ive been building my car for the past 3 years....with road race and autocross in mind...
i used to run a staggered wheel setup on it of 15x7 front and 15x6.5 rear (lower offset in front).... it felt amazing so i wanted to push it alittle more
car will see the street 3 days a week

Re: (K20A_EH)
im just wondering if 15x9 would be too extreme.... my other idea was 15x8 rims with 205/50-15 toyo r1r's these are like 1/2" wider then AZENIS

BAD IDEA. They don't just pick these numbers out of a hat; they do engineering analyses to see what point the tires get overstressed. If they say don't go wider than 15x8.5, then don't go wider than 15x8.5. And if you think you might get 205/50-15 tires at some point, don't go wider than 15x8.

Re: (nsxtasy)
ive seen a few of miata guys running the 205/50-15 r1r's on 15x8 rims and the tires are rated at 7.5 max width...
some people running 225's on 15x9 rims
i think 15x8 might be more practical
so is anyone running 15x8 with wide tires.... no little stretched tires..

Re: (old man neri)
im taking the staggered setup to the extreme wider stance wider contact patch.... only running 15x7 in the rear....
i read at some point width will start to kill horse power?

I really don't know. I suppose wider tires and wider rims to weigh more and thus will be harder to accelerate.
Again, I really don't know. My only suggestion is to not exceed the tire manufacturer's approved rim widths.

If you are looking for better grip, get better, stickier tires. Wheels wider than 15x7 are not going to give you any better grip at all.

Wider wheels and tires will hurt your acceleration due to the larger diameter of the tires (it's like getting taller gears) as well as greater weight. Wider tires (not wider wheels, except as needed to accommodate those tires) can help cornering on a racetrack, but won't make any difference in street use.

Just because people do it, doesn't mean it's safe.
Suppose there's a 10 percent chance of tire failure with those sizes. You might run into people who don't have a problem. But do you REALLY want to take a 10 percent chance of tire failure?
Don't be stupid. Stick with the tire manufacturers' guidelines for rim width.

you sure about that?? im not very knowledgeable, but then why do drag racers have wide *** tires and wheel when they drag...??

The principal factor in performance is the design of the tire (i.e. the make and model), NOT the width of the tire.

We're talking about street tires in this topic. Not drag racers.

If that's really what you're looking for, then stick with 15x7 rims, with 205/50-15 R1R or Azenis.

Re: (K20A_EH)
you can fit 205's on a 9 inch rim but ur streaching the tire alot the only reason of putting that tiny tire on a wide rim is for that deep dish rim not to rub as bad it makes the tire more like a bubble but u will have very bad tire wear they dont do it for better handling its all about the look im sure when and if them cars get raced or go to the track they change rims but u can do it

Re: (nsxtasy)
if i finally go with 15x9 im going to run 225/45-15 tires ... says up to 8.5" width... so i dont think 1/2" of stretch will be to much stress
but im pretty sure im going with 205/50-15 toyo r1r on a 15x8 +30 (those 205's are approved to 7.5 so its the same difference)
not too extreme of a stretch
those cars look hella dope... but that DA is pushing the limit
