high quality bit, lube it up with wd40, oil, etc..and go slow. then retap it for an oversized bolt.

you are teh done at this point. good luck.

you really dont even have to drill the hole out... just go by a tap the same size as the old hole and the same thread pitch as the bolt and retap it. retap means to cut new threads in the metal

Yeah you can probably get away with just using the same tap size. I wouldnt do it though. It's just a matter of running a drilling through the hole to clean it up and make it bigger. It will take you 30 sec at most and you will have the peace of mind with doing it right.

btw if you oversize it you can make it whatever you want. like if you dont own metric taps

i just arrived from home depot.... 2 things: i learned what "retapping" is. & they don't have anything in metric. yah~! i only have 2 of the 4 (1 on top hindge ; 1 on bottom hindge) bolts holding my door on. i believe the size is 10mm or 12mm. i want to try 14. it's #25 (the bolt not flange) in the picture below. i need to retap the entrance for that bolt.

The easiest way to do it at this point is to take the hinge bolt to home depot and have them get you an sae bolt, tap and drill bit. drill, tap and install your new bolts. you are done.

ps do a google on tapping or something. they are hardened and break easily if you get rough with them.... much like petite chics.

they said their bolts are not automotive spec... meaning they will eventually warp or break... what to do?

I'd just take the car/door to an automotive shop and have them fix it for few bucks.

that's what i was thinking... but autobody people are shardy sometimes... they might just glue the bolt in lol. it's a simple task i think i can handle.

carbide is meant for hard metals and carbide tipped drills are for masonary work... tin (or titanium as u called is) is not a titanium drill but just a coating... all u need for ur purpose is just a good drill... pretty much dont buy the chinese crap for $.50
