this is a welding and fabrication? i would think that machining would be included. what does soda cans and razor blades welded together have to do with drag racing, or what does the autocross form on here have to do with drag racing?

we make miniature hydraulic components for aerospace, formula one,oil drilling industrys

Always been curious how do you get into that type of job? I'm an automotive tech and have always been interested in machine shops. Do you need to have some type of engineering degree or what?

im 22 now, i went to a technical highschool, took machine tool, i really like machining so it comes pretty easy. im 22 and have been machining for 9 years . you just gotta get your foot in the door. small good machine shops. if you have good mechanical ability you can get into it. just talk to local job shops.

yea im 25 now and took welding and automotive in high school and have worked in auto shops ever since. my last job was at a performance shop and i got some experience on a lathe and a mill that we had there, did alot of fabrication stuff and TIG/MIG welding. shop went out of business though so ive been unemployed for a bit and have been considering maybe trying somethin new. Thanks for the info man, nice shop btw. If you dont mind me asking, whats the pay like? pretty decent?

Does look clean and organized. I like how each machine has its own work area with a catch bin next to it.

pay is very good, beni's are even better+ profit sharing, but we have a hiring freeze right now cause of the economy, but work hasnt slowed down, were still working overtime. we are in a brand new building right now. the company has 11 building in westbrook and essex CT.

it has to be orginized because were AS9001 certified. all our material and parts are documented.so we cant get stuff mixed up.

if very high tolorance work and high part quantity per run. but the cam machines keep you busy. they can be a handful, and the setups are very involved.
