what to use to weld cast
I am wondering what everyone is using to weld turbne housings. I would like to put a v-band on my turbo but my welder sait he can't. inputs???

LOL at the sales pitch pm! i'm not sure how a sales pitch comes out of someone asking to weld cast...
i use 309l without any issues, but i'm sure there are better options. just preheat it and make sure it is clean. go slow and also, clamp your vband to a heat sink to help prevent warping.

Something like this with pre and post heating, will work for ya. And a flat heat sink clamped on the v-band is a good idea.

My welder mean he is not welding it him self. Which means he is paying someone to do it anyways. So why not pay someone that knows how to do it.

im sure there were 1000 things wrong technically with what i did, but its still holding strong no cracks or leaks a few thousand miles later. i put a small bevel on both surfaces, heated it up as good as i could with a mapp gas torch, then welded it together. i put 2 bolts in to hold it together when i welded it. this was done using my friends lincoln sp- 135 with 75/25 mix for it. i actually liked the sp 135 enough that i just got myself an sp 125.
