Default welding tips

im about to so some shaving of my engine bay and some of the spots are pretty thin metal.. i really don't want to mess it up and burn through.. what would be a good setting for something like that

its just a basic wire feed welder and we use gas.. also maybe there i a better type of wire for something like that?

Use thinner wire, .030 or .035 will do, pull the trigger then stop, basically spot weld.

Copper is non-ferrous....

But you have the right idea. Also an aluminum backer will work.

Good stuff. I was looking for some info on this myself. Not to mention the rusted through holes in the floorboard I need to find a way to fix.
