I mostly lurk and read, through this section, I have a problem with Head flanges warping during welding.

I have made some jigs to bolt them in which makes it better, something that can help disipate the heat.

I have not tried to pre-bend them so that when they are welded they conform.

I guess I am just looking for suggestions, as I get tired of sanding and sanding and sanding lol. Any help appreciated

 

What kind of jig are you bolting it to? You may need to bolt it to some thicker material.

 

How thick of material are you bolting them too? I have used 1.5-2.0 material in the past and had good luck.

 

I have had the best luck actually bolting it to a head, but the jig I made was out of 3/4'' . I figured if I could get a pretty thick chunk of aluminum it would probably work great.

 

I have some big blocks of aluminum laying around I could make one up for you
