Default type of metal

Hi I have a EF Si and i am planning to change part of the rusted out parts of my car... i just want to know what type of metal do i need and tickness. i know i could go mesure it...but my rocker panels(i think its that parts name) are mostly all rusted s i wouldnt mesure the right tickness. Its going to be welded with a low power MIG. hope my information helps to help me

regular low-carbon steel (1020) , probably like .035"
