I am going to be installing my 8pt cage here pretty soon and I was wondering if anyone has any tips for installing it while keeping the stock interior/panels while hacking it up the least amount possible. The only parts that will need to be cut is the carpet for the main hoop, and the rear side panels/armrest parts in the back, and thats the one that I am wondering most how to make it fit with possibly a 1/2" max gap around the bar, so if anyone has any insight, post it up, thanks.
Hey, I'll definetly help you out man.
One easy way of doing it, is to mark up the peices, and then cut holes in the floor to send the tubes through. Fully weld the tubing, bring up the cage, and then weld the floor plates in place covering up the holes. you can use a welding blanket or even just cover plastic to cover up any interior peices that might get burned from the mig splatter. we used this method on my freinds car, and it was cake. Ultimately though the more interior you can take out, the better.
Just let me know when your gonna work on it, I'll definetly come over. I still gotta check out your car too.
