Default TIG welding aluminum new BOV flange and patching/welding hole from old BOV-hours involved?

I have a Turbo xs type s BOV on Greddy's aluminum charge pipe. Since I'm upgrading my turbo kit, I bought a Blitz, but it obviously won't fit the TXS flange, or fit in the same area. So I took it to a local welder for a quote. I want the old flange cut off, a new hole drilled in a separate location for the Blitz flange, weld the flange on, and use the drilled out piece to patch/weld the hole left by the cut off Turbo xs flange. It doesn't sound that complicated, but he's telling me it's about 5 hours labor! What a rip. Not only that, but the work couldn't be done until January. This is the same place that charged me almost $70 to weld a bung on my Moroso catch can to duplicate the Endyn design. The only other local welder just does MIG welding, but their work isn't that great.

Does anyone know of a place that sells the charge pipe before the throttle body with a Blitz flange already welded in place? It's for a '99-00 Si, and has to go into the fender like a cold air intake. I'd REALLY appreciate some help. I think DRAG uses Blitz BOVs, but I'm pretty sure the pipe is routed differently.

I usually charge about 40- 50 bucks, something like that would probably take just about close to an hour.Where are you located?

anywhere from $50-100 sounds like the right price to have it TIG'd.

You have to cut off the existing pipe. Clean up the area. re-drill a hole that will accomidate the larger(im assuming) pipe. then weld the pipe to the flange, pipe/flange, to the charge pipe. All in all will take atleast an hour and AL welding isnt cheap(i cannot tell you why, because everyone knows if you take a welding class you start out on AL when doing TIG)

Regardless, the right price is about $50-100 for the time and skill level needed.

Yeah, I figured his 5 hour estimate at $55/hr was way off. I live in Western PA, by the way. I wish you guys lived close to me!

I can do it if you want me to. I can likely do it for $40, possibly including shipping back to you. 5hrs is VERY high. I agree with the 1hr mentioned above. If it is going to take some idiot 5hrs, I feel confident in saying that they must suck like hell. You'd be displeased with their work anyway.

If you wanna see some stuff I've done, here's a bit:

You probably have service pack 2. If that's the case, you need to adjust your pop up blocker settings to accept pop ups from h-t. Anyway, I'll e-mail you.
