Default surface of mild steele flanges after a while

I know that a lot of people/companies use mild steele for there head flanges in these days. But how look these flanges after a while of use in the cars?

I think that stainless will look much better.

What do you guys think are all the advantages of the mild steele? Or is it the lower price of the mild compared to stainless?

Thanks

stainless expands too much and if you have bad luck can rip the threads out of your head..

I ever thought the stainless flanges can shear the studs and this problem could be solved with making the holes in the flange big enough?

What do you think?

Moving in general. Welding it, expansion of all sorts. Then the warping that can happen. Making the holes bigger may work with expansion on the X axis. However when the flange warps and lifts from the head it will still rip off teh studs.

Why not just use a different stud? This is a rare occurence

I've heard about stud problems, but i've never seen it and don't really believe it to be much of a problem. My main complaint is that the stainless flange will warp ALOT more than a mild steel flange while welding.

True nothing a 20" Surface grinder can't fix tony i heard you could weld without using any heat? something about just looking at the material and it welds itself

The flanges of the first five or six manifolds that I´ve buildt have shrinked or warped. While checking this, I niticed that they all shrinked ond warped in the same way.

I calculated this into my "flange production". I placed all the holes in a little different location before cnc-ing.
So, after welding they are all into the right location.
