Default Welding inside flanges

How are you guys welding the inside of your collector and head to runner flanges without warping? Or are you not welding the inside?

I read alot of people saying to weld the inside of the head and collector flange. I bolted my flanges to a solid piece of 1" al. when welding to keep eveything stright, but how do I weld the inside without it warping? TIA

just weld a small amount at a time (1" or so) and let it cool before you weld on it again. i don't like to use aluminum for head/turbo flange bolt down plates because i find it bends. i use a 1.25" mild steel plate. i have a couple alum v-band heat sinks though. hard to bend a big fat round piece of aluminum with a v-band ring.

There is no need to weld inside the head flange on a manifold made of sch10/40 unless you have some fitment issues to deal with. Now on a turbo flange you can weld inside but it will 99% of the time be for cosmetics or for flow reasons (eliminating sharp edges for smoother transitions and such).

There should be no warping if you don't look at it as a weld for strength in the part and weld it cooler. (you don't want burn through on the back side anyways as that will look like crap).

I have never had a v band warp on me, but i pulse weld all thin material as of late.
