Stabilizing AC arc
Hey guys, I'm using a miller sd180 for aluminum with pure (green) balled tungsten. Is there an alternative tungsten to use to avoid the unstable arc when I'm starting my puddle? Its kind of a pain in the *** when welding AN bungs with delicate threads.
Thanks!
Thanks!
You can also try the arc zone hybrid tungsten. Seems to work pretty good on my sinc 250. I still have a bit of arc wander because it is only a 60hz machine.
I use 2% thoriated for everything and don't have wandering problems on my machine, though like I said I still put the other side of the fitting on just in case it wants to melt.
edit: I had one of those hybrid tungstens, didn't seem to be as good as the thoriated. I think I still have like 3/4 of it left sitting in the drawer.
