Default Something I made at work

Hi,
I'm not a welder by profession(newb) but I enjoy tig welding, specially since I can do all my fab work my self. Earlier this my supervisor at work asked me to come with an Idea to test 2 blowers at the same time and this is what I came up with..

The machine I used for this a Miller Dynasty 200DX with an air cooled torch WP17 . I don't weld every day so my beads are not too consistant but they have improved quite a bit since I first started Tig weld over a year ago.

I knew that some guys were going to ask what and why, thats why I left it out on my first post. I'm a lab tech for the engineering lab of a commercial-light industrial boiler water heater manufacturer here in Nj . These blowers are used for the air-fuel delivery system on bilers and water heaters, in this particular test these blowers will be placed in an enviormental chamber which will be heated to about 200 degrees F the blowers will also be vibrated and will cycle on and off until they fail. The feature that I made will allow me to duct the blowers outside the chamber and gives me a spot to mount the vibrator motor. I'm curious to see if my welds will hold up to months of constent vibration.

very nice. I had a feeling there was some reason behind this. And looking at the blowers, I could tell they weren't any type of automotive turbine.

So if the weld/fixture fails after a month, the test is no good and needs to be re-started, correct?

We're not really testing the fixture or my welds, we're testing the blowers to see if they can handle worst conditions. If my weld fail than I'll reweld them..lol My supervisor knows that I'm not a pro at Tig welding so he lets me get as practice as I can get,so making fixtures and welding little things here and there is good experience for me it only makes me a more valuable employee. Now I'm trying to get my company to send me for some Solidworks training.

I know you're not testing the welds, what I was saying was If your fixture fails, the test will be incomplete because it is supposed to be a test until the blower fails, so would you have to start from the beginning for a second test?

If my fixtures comes apart I'll fix it and the test resumes from there.

dude ive used those vibco vibrators quite a bit, and ill tell you this.

brace up the area where it vibrates, check with the company to make sure u used thick enough material. if the vibrator isnt mounted properly it will kill itself in a few days, i know this becuase ive cooked 4 of these basterds and couldnt figure out why. (i think they are 450$ each)

No need to explain man I love seeing stuff besides stupid turbo manifolds OVER and OVER. I think some of the jerks above with their "lol's" are out of line.

Thanks for posting

No problem, the sides of the fixture are 1/4" 6061 all around , front and back are 1/8" 6061 it also it has a 1/2" thick rod welded for side to side on the inside of this thing.
