??? what do you mean small? Here is a pic next to the average 4" plenum.

Actually, the intake manis I'm in the process of making are for DSMs.
Also, yes the velocity stack mandrel is made out of steel. The easiest way to make it is to spin it on a lathe.

 

I like everything about this design except that I think that the plenum volume may be a little too low. Not sure, would need to bust out a calculator but just by looking at it, it seems to be a little on the jenny craig side.

That's certainly not a small plenum.

 

whats the internal volume, its probably just my eyes playing tricks on me but from the looks of the pics it looks like a couple liters then again i was thinking that was a 3 inch elbow not 4
