GT42 Compressor Wheel. Machined these up at work the other day. Will be doing the rest of the turbo in the next few weeks. Journal bearing unfortunately. BTW this isn't Dave@passenger. I'm just using his HT account

 

so you machined the back of the wheel?
why?
to shed some weight?
I would be scared of the integrity of the wheell.
i mean there is a ton of force on these when they are pushing all that air. i imagine they want to flex and deform.

 

I guess I should clarify. I machined these from a raw casting. I do this stuff every day.

the blades dont look machined at all.

 

The fins on the compressor wheel are machined to fit the GT42 compressor cover naturally.

 

sorry i figured he made it from a chunk of aluminum. nice work

 

hrmm...looks like I need to make a trip up to BC. I need to find my passport first!
