What watt rating should my solder be to solder O2 sensor wires, and HID wires. I just want it for simple wiring jobs on my cars(and home). Would 60watts be sufficient or is that nothing?

Sorry for the noob question but I'm not familiar with this kind of tool.(not a plumber or electrician)

 

I have a weller 120 watt for doing big wires like engine grounds battery leads etc. 60 watt is overkill for small gauge wires like you are talking about, 25 watt would probably be adequate. If you are going to be serious and solder any kind of variety or quantity spending some money on a unit with adjustable temperature is well worth it. I use a hakko soldering station with ceramic element and adjustable temperature for 90% of stuff, but there are lots of brands and options for adjustable units. Stay away from soldering guns too, some people swear by them but I would never use one after using a decent iron.

 

I personally prefer the butane ones, much easier to use in tight spaces and cars and such. But I used to install remote starts every day so it's a little different.
