Simple Chromoly Question
Sorry guys, I did not have time to search this. My work hours don't allow enough time to read through pages and pages of threads.
I just got my car back, 10-point cage and chute setup. At the moment, it is unpainted chromoly. I know if I don't paint the cage, it will get some surface rust. My question is: The car is stored in a trailor or a garage at all times with minimal exposure to the elements, so how long would you guys think I have to get this thing painted before the rust starts? I'm not very familiar with chromoly and how it reacts, and I'd like to take my time with getting it all painted. But if I need to hurry up to avoid ruining the cage, I will. Just wanted some other opinions ...
Thanks all.

It mainly depends how much moisture there is where it's being stored. The welds and places where the mill scale was taken off will rust first. Waiting a few months wouldn't be a big deal though, just need to sand off the surface rust before being painted.
