Default Sheet metal

Let me start by saying i hate quarter panels!!! I am lookignt o fix some rust, one of my dads good friends welds alot and said he could help me out if i get all the fabrication taken care of first. I ahve searched and i have found that some where aroun 18-20 is good for the quarters but i cannot seem to find which type of metal. I heard galvanized is bad and hard to prep, so my geuss is mild steel??

i used 18. also i used mild steel and had it undercoated once it was welded in. on my suzuki samurai i used galvenized, you just have to grind/sand the edges down where you want to weld. welding galvenized is bad (the burnt gas is bad to breathe). good luck with your honda rot.

cold rolled mild steel. hot rolled mild steel will work but will require you to sand off the scale. 18 to 20 gauge will work just fine

be sure when you weld it, it is really thin metal. tack it very lightly and each tack alternate 1 end from another and leave time for it to cool down. if you dont, before you know it, it will warp like no other. make sure you keep a good wet rag or something to help take off the heat.

wait, i didnt read the whole post of yours, haha. didnt know somebody else is going to weld for you.
