so again i will state- if you are looking to build a cage, at least look over FIA article 253, and build as much cage as you can.

And to poster of the white civic, this is why I strongly believe in cages for anyone who drives hard on the street. I have one in my Jetta, and it has never, ever been on a track.

FYI: The driver was medivac'd to hospital, survived, and is currently rebuilding that car with a new chassis. There's a lot more information over on BimmerForums; sorry, but I don't have the link right now.
Wow! Thanks for posting that , and props to him for posting the pictures! Too many road race guys are too embarrassed to post crash pictures.
I wonder if that was ERW

DOM. Here's a post I made about this elsewhere:
Driver survived after being airlifted out, then went back to rebuilding the car in a new chassis. Cage was completely constructed of "1.750” x 0.120” seamless mild steel (DOM)".

The build thread for that car seems to be here (on page 10, he posts up about the accident, and page 11 has the pictures you posted above):

Page 12 and 13 is where he starts talking about the cage, and posting more pictures. A couple of pictures of the cage with the roof removed:

what are your thoughts on what a caged car will do to a non-caged car? I would put a cage in my car but if I smash into someone and their car gets destroyed because it absorbs all of the impulse and my car absorbs none which results in them getting obliterated im going to feel pretty bad.

Wow...glad to hear the driver is ok. I was actually going to ask based on where that roof bar ended up...there isn't a lot of room for a head between the bar and the seat

There is a lot of space between that car's unibody and the frame some gussets would be a great add on that way they work together -_-.
